And yes, this is just another post about me wondering what car to get next. After looking (online) at almost every E 60/61 with a 6 cyl for sale in Germany, I thought why not Alpina? This D3 BiTurbo hits my age/mileage/budget limits, and while I really like Alpinas and would ignore that this is a 4 cyl E90, I just can’t see myself actually driving it. At the end of the day it’s just another modded 3 series that isn’t an M3, and I fear that I would have to spend too much time boring non car people to death about how this is not a BMW.

Nice car, I just feel too old for this shit. It’s like you can’t just drive it, I would feel like I have to explain.

Kinja'd!!!

38 y/o me would feel like suddenly starting to wear a baseball cap backwards or something.

Kinja'd!!!

And I would have no problem rocking this.

Kinja'd!!!

So, am I weird or are the stripes a bit too much?

For what it’s worth, my attention to expensive BMWs goes like this:

M3>Any Alpina>M5. But I worked in Manhattan and saw a lot of B7s.

I’ve been drinking and forgot maths. M5>Alpina>M3 was what I meant.

I’d say getting an Alpina without the pinstripes is weird...

I’m drinking too, so I read it as just that. Weird but somewhat funny.

As much as I like tuned BMWs I’ve always hated Alpina stripes. This hatred started back in the ‘70s:

Tacky then and tacky now (although today’s version aren’t quite as bad the early ones). Then again, it was the ‘70s, so tastes were questionable at best.

There are definitely cases were the stripes look better, but I’m not totally against those. Plus it actually is an Alpina, which is awesome in itself. The black on yellow looks great on this one for instance.

Fuck it, buy cars that make you happy. I love Alpina wheels, the stripe I’m lukewarm about....especially on newer models. I’m partial to the old Hartge stripes.

I love the stripes. I like when people manage to pull off flair like this without it looking like rice.

But it’s like a Lamborghini badge: dripping with cool as long as it’s on a Lamborghini
